Kilimanjaro June 2009: A group of Edinburgh University Medical Students are climbing Kilimanjaro right now to study the effects of altitude on the human body.

The group aim to find out more about what causes altitude sickness by using cutting-edge technology to measure the pressure within the brain.

THE INTERNATIONAL HAPE DATABASE

FACT OF THE WEEK
Antarctica.  This image was actually taken at the Matrix field camp on the Pine Island Glacier, Antarctica. 4093m: Dome A, Antarctica. Dome A is likely one of the coldest places on the planet, with temperatures possibly reaching below a remarkable -90°C. It is also the highest ice feature in Antarctica.
