HIGH ALTITUDE RESEARCH EXPEDITION: BOLIVIA, 2021
APEX (Altitude Physiology Expeditions) was founded by medical students at the University of Edinburgh in 2001. Since then, hundreds of students have taken part in expeditions investigating the effect of altitude and hypoxia (low oxygen levels) on the human body. The latest expedition, APEX 6 will be in June 2021...
Several research projects will be conducted during the expedition. This includes investigating the effects of altitude on neutrophils (a white blood cell), eye movements called saccades, sleep and pulmonary oedema (fluid on the lungs.)
Applications for our 2021 expedition open soon. Open to University of Edinburgh students only. Please read our information pack for more information and register for our information evening HERE
